Once there was a girl. Behind her home, there was a large wood. She was a couple of feet away from the woods because her cousin Bruno dared her to find the Hidden Legend. The legend was about an ancient treasure map in the heart of the woods.
She stepped into the woods and … nothing happened. Well, that was a lie! Her heart was beating, she was breathing, and she was doing other bodily functions like seeing.
Lucky for her, there was a trail. The walk/run to the heart of the woods was surprisingly full and it only took about ten minutes. At the heart, though, it was different. It had this creepy feel to it. The trees weren’t just old, they were ancient! They were twenty feel tall. It was almost as if they formed a wall around the clearing.
The part where I walked through was like an arched anchoring. What dominated the center of the clearing was a huge tree, so huge that the word “huge” doesn’t even begin to cover its size. It was as if the twenty-foot-tall trees that surrounded the clearing were saplings!
The top of the tree in the clearing was shaped like an arched entrance. In the center of it sat a red map book like the heart of this fallen beast. The lower branches grew to the side and up, as though they were steps to the top. Cobwebs covered the area. Even as creepy as it was, I didn’t want to destroy this haunted peace
Should I turn in the book of maps? Or should I keep it in the ancient, haunted garden?
