One day, a knight was walking over a hill. As he was walking, he noticed a cave and thought, ”I bet there’s a dragon living in there.”

As he walked into the cave, he noticed a faint smell of smoke lingering in the air. ”Hmmm,” he thought. ”Maybe the local village wants the dragon in here dead.”

He walked down to the local village and asked the baron if he had any trouble with a dragon.

”Yes,” lied the baron. ”The dragon destroys our crops and eats our sheep.”

Actually the baron just wanted to see a good fight. ”I’ll kill the dragon for you,” said the knight.

The next day, the knight went to the dragon’s cave. ”Come out, dragon!” he called.

The dragon came out blinking his eyes in the sunlight. ”Hello,”said the dragon. ”Would you like a lollipop?”

”No!” said the knight. ”I have come to slay you!”

”Oh,” said the dragon. ”I don’t have time for that right now.”

”Well, I have to kill you,” said the knight.

”Then I’ll just have to go and sit in my cave,” said the dragon. And he went back into his cave. ”Do you want ice cream?” asked the dragon from inside his cave.

”No!” yelled the knight.” I want to kill you!”

”Why?” asked the dragon. ”I’m the friendly dragon.”

”But the baron said you kill their sheep and destroy their crops,” said the knight.

”That guy?” asked the dragon. ”He’s always trying to find a way to kill me.”

”I know,” said the knight. ”We can go and fight him.”

”Ok,” said the dragon. As they walked down the hill to the city, the baron’s guards charged out to meet them.

Together, the knight and the dragon quickly defeated them and continued on their stroll down the hill. When the knight and the dragon reached the baron’s house, they knocked on the door.

”Go away!” said the baron. The dragon knocked down the door and started looking for the baron. The knight found the baron under his bed.

”I challenge you to a duel!” cried the knight.

”No,” said the baron.

”Then leave,” said the dragon.

”Fine,” said the baron. ”I hope you die horrible deaths.”

”Bye now,” said the dragon. As the baron left, the dragon turned to the knight. ”So…. how do we rule a town full of people?” asked the dragon.

”That’s a great question,” said the knight. ”I guess we have to find out.”
